Program DescriptionUW Upward Bound provides college preparation services to eligible low-income and potential first-generation college students. Upward Bound provides tutoring, advising, SAT test preparation, and career and college exploration opportunities. Each summer, Upward Bound students spend six weeks on the UW Seattle campus attending a Summer Academy to experience the academic and social atmosphere of a major university. Students receive instruction in UW classrooms and enroll in language arts, math, foreign language, science, and elective classes. Upward Bound supports students with college applications, seeking scholarships, and applying for financial aid. Services are free to participants. Upward Bound is funded by the US Department of Education and is hosted by the UW Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity.
