Organization Description
| Mission statement | I’ve worked in schools, museums, community centers and mental health facilities. As my role has evolved over the years from art therapist to teaching artist, I view art as both a language and a discipline that is capable of producing cathartic experiences both for the creator and the viewer. I believe that we all should have access to it and it should be made available for anyone and everyone. As a common practice, I tend to incorporate teaching the 7 elements of art & principles of design. Sharing specific words or vocabulary allows us to use a common verbal language when speaking and learning about the processes of visual art. I also believe that when a person learns the full range of their chosen media through exploration and experimentation, it creates space for more opportunities to be creative as one has the ability to control and choose which method works best for the attempted expression. Lastly, I believe that the creative process is just as important as the finished product. |
