Organization Description

Mission statementI call myself a creative practitioner/warrior. My work manifests as inter- and multi-disciplinary performance art through storytelling, rituals, immersive gatherings and several neuro-aesthetic practices. My work is largely process oriented than being product focused. Engaging with the art form actively or beholding the creative event with no judgement is key to my work both as an artist/teaching artist. To quote Victor Turner, the cultural anthropologist who extensively studied theatre and performance as a ritual - "Ritual offers anti-structure within a structure." My classroom approach is rooted in this mantra. In my experience as a teaching artist, I have witnessed theatre unfold itself the most in my classrooms. I script my class, I rehearse my lines and I show up to class knowing I might have to pull tricks from the hat or sometimes even willing to throw all of my learning plan out of the window if the minds in my classroom are unable to receive what I have to offer.
