To break down cultural and systemic social barriers that prevent youth and young adults of all races, genders, and abilities from exploring computer science as a potential career and field of study. |
| Service(s) description | Computing Kids is an educational enrichment program for children in grades K-8 in the Seattle and Eastside area. We partner with schools, community groups, and parents to bring computer programming classes to kids in a variety of settings. |
| Program impact | Since its inception Computing Kids has grown to serve over 20 schools in the Seattle area and has provided classes to over 2,000 elementary and middle school students. Through partnerships with Communities in Schools and Parks and Recreation’s Out of School Time, we have provided free classes to 80 students at Dearborn Park Elementary and 140 students at Mercer International Middle School. |
