Organization Description

Mission statementTo provide high quality computer science education for students of all ages and backgrounds that will open the door to tech career pathways. To break down cultural and systemic social barriers that prevent youth and young adults of all races, genders, and abilities from exploring computer science as a potential career and field of study.
Service(s) descriptionComputing Kids is an educational enrichment program for children in grades K-8 in the Seattle and Eastside area. We partner with schools, community groups, and parents to bring computer programming classes to kids in a variety of settings.
Program impactSince its inception Computing Kids has grown to serve over 20 schools in the Seattle area and has provided classes to over 2,000 elementary and middle school students. Through partnerships with Communities in Schools and Parks and Recreation’s Out of School Time, we have provided free classes to 80 students at Dearborn Park Elementary and 140 students at Mercer International Middle School.

Expanded Learning (1 program)

Programs that provide opportunities outside of the regular school day to practice and reinforce the skills students are learning in the classroom, to get exposure to new and different areas that may spark their interest and curiosity, and to cultivate strong social emotional skills and mindsets.
