Mission statementTo secure and transform the lives of Black children by inspiring, recruiting and mobilizing masses of caring Black men and women to mentor and nourish them.
Service(s) descriptionSeattle CARES Mentoring Movement will provide programming using established training protocols and a standardized curriculum material based on The Rising Program: Elevating, Education, Expectations and Self-Esteem (a group mentoring model). The curriculum has been evaluated by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for its effectiveness to increase critical thinking in challenging situations; eliminated self-harming behavior; increased pride in young Black boys; increase a sense of self-worth and hope for the future.
